Addressing family and friends, the gospel singer described how a rapidly increasing hospital bill had put them in a very difficult situation.
His brother, Paul Kariithi Muraya, had spent several weeks in intensive care due to complications from a road accident, and the expenses quickly grew to an amount the family could not afford.
Karangu explained that assistance arrived when he felt entirely overwhelmed. He stated that William Ruto intervened and covered the outstanding hospital bill, describing the act as both unforeseen and immensely comforting.
He noted that this support brought an end to months of financial pressure, which had caused his family considerable anxiety and uncertainty.
He clarified that insurance had only covered a minor portion of the costs, leaving a substantial balance unsettled.
The bill had, at one point, escalated to approximately 1.8 million shillings, with only 400,000 covered by insurance.
This financial burden compelled him to transfer his brother between various hospitals in an effort to find more affordable treatment.
Karangu also recognized the support from Kithure Kindiki, who, he noted, assisted in settling a portion of the initial medical expenses.
This particular help prevented the family from needing to arrange a public fundraiser, an option he acknowledged he had been contemplating.
Apart from the financial aspects, the singer addressed criticism he encountered online during that period. He stated that he had been criticized for attending a State House event while his brother remained hospitalized, clarifying that his presence was professional and essential for providing for his children.
