A foreign national identified as Collins, popularly known as “Collo,” has been accused of exploiting religion to lure more than 100 women in Kisii County into compromising situations, sparking outrage and concern across the region. Collo reportedly arrived in Kisii Town presenting himself as a devout preacher, carrying a Bible and singing hymns, which quickly earned him the trust of deeply religious residents.
He was frequently seen in markets, roadside joints, and social spaces in Menyinkwa, where he openly prayed and interacted with locals. Many women, seeking healing, marital stability, or opportunities to travel abroad, reportedly placed their full confidence in him. However, allegations suggest that behind closed doors at his Airbnb residence, his activities were far from spiritual.
According to multiple accounts, prayer sessions allegedly escalated into intimate encounters that were secretly recorded without the women’s consent. Some of the explicit videos have since surfaced online, causing significant emotional distress, reputational damage, and family breakdowns. In one widely circulated clip, a whisky bottle is visible in the room where he allegedly conducted his so-called ministry.
Reports indicate that some victims were given a token payment of five dollars after the encounters, a tactic believed to have been used to create ambiguity around consent and discourage victims from reporting the incidents.
Residents have expressed shock and anger. One woman, Nyaboke, pleaded for privacy, stating she only knew him as a pastor, while another resident, Richard Okero, said Collo’s behavior was completely unexpected. Questions have also been raised about his legitimacy, with local hawker Elizabeth Kemunto noting she never saw him associated with any church.
Authorities have launched investigations, with Kisii County Police confirming efforts to trace the source of the videos and identify all parties involved as calls for justice intensify.
