Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, is now being accused of abandoning some of the people who campaigned for her in last year’s election.

This is according to Bongo Music artist Abdul Naseeb, popularly known as Diamond Platnumz, who says the CCM government no longer cares about them after helping it remain in power.

According to the musician, all government attention has been shifted towards soccer, even though they played the biggest role in making Samia’s October 2025 re-election a reality.

Diamond says the government is investing heavily in improving soccer infrastructure while musicians remain largely forgotten, lamenting that their request for a mega musical arena has been completely rubbished.

“They only invest in football but forget and dismiss us musicians. We only become important during campaigns after which we are forgotten,” he said during an interview on Wasafi FM, which he owns.

His complains come at a time when some Tanzanian musicians have had to deal with a boycott from the masses, who have accused them of betrayal for working with a government they claim is unwanted.

Some of them were directly targeted in the clashes that erupted on the election day, with artists like Shilole and Bilnass having their hotel and phone shop respectively destroyed.

This was after the government chose to press on with the election, despite pressure from the opposition that there be electoral reforms first.

Samia, however, proceeded to win the presidency despite the nationwide protests, with her party also securing most of the remaining elective seats.
