The office of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has moved to clarify reports linking one of the police officers arrested for a high-profile robbery in Kitengela to the Harambee Avenue offices.The Deputy President’s office has issued a statement clarifying that the officer involved has never been employed by, nor has he worked directly with, Deputy President Kindiki.

This clarification follows the recent arrest of four police officers and a civilian, who are accused of robbing a Congolese national on Wednesday, March 25.

Sources knowledgeable about the situation disclosed that the officer has a background of disciplinary issues and was previously assigned to the Kikuyu Police Station before being moved to the Elwak Police Station in December 2025—a transfer he allegedly did not comply with.

According to police reports, the suspects are said to have stolen valuable items from the victim, including a diamond necklace valued at Ksh 247,000, over $3,000 in cash, 300 Euros, Ksh 500 in local currency.The victim, who was traveling from Namanga to Nairobi, was drawn into a fraudulent business scheme by a civilian associate.

Upon arriving in Kitengela, he was directed to a vehicle where he was confronted by two men pretending to be buyers, and was subsequently “arrested” by the other suspects.

Fortunately, bystanders intervened, preventing further harm, managing to apprehend one of the suspects.

The victim was taken to Kitengela Police Station for medical attention and to assist with the investigation.

The Deputy President’s office emphasized its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding criminal behavior and called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
