Kiptilalon Village in Kilibwoni Location, Nandi County, was left in shock after a man who allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life was buried late at night without any mourners.

The couple’s deaths have left the community and family members struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

According to police reports, the 31-year-old man attacked his 24-year-old wife following what authorities believe were ongoing domestic disputes.

The woman was rushed to Kilibwoni Health Centre with serious injuries but died before she could receive treatment. Her death left two children, aged 2 and 5, orphaned.

After attacking his wife, the man reportedly fled the scene. Police later discovered that he had taken his own life by jumping into a nearby dam.

Authorities recovered his body, and preliminary investigations suggest that prolonged marital conflicts may have contributed to the tragic events.

The burial of the man took place at midnight, in a quiet ceremony with no family members or community mourners in attendance.

Local leaders and relatives explained that the unusual timing and absence of mourners were due to the violent circumstances surrounding his death, as well as concerns over public reactions.

Nandi Central Police Commander Maurice Okul confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances that led to the double tragedy.

The children, now left without parents, face a very uncertain future.

Community members have expressed concern about how they will be cared for and supported in the coming weeks.

Social services and extended family are being called upon to ensure the children receive protection, care, and emotional support during this difficult time.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to White Crescent Hospital Mortuary, where postmortem examinations are being conducted.
