A 37-year-old woman has captured global attention after marrying two men in a single wedding ceremony in northeastern Thailand. The unusual union, held in Buriram province, brought together the bride, Dujduan Ketsaro, and her two Austrian partners, Roman and Macky, both former or serving police officers. Each groom reportedly paid a dowry of about KSh 4.1 million to the bride’s family as part of the traditional marriage arrangements.
The ceremony took place over the weekend and included traditional blessings and rituals attended by family and local officials. According to reports, the couple agreed to the arrangement after openly discussing their relationship and deciding they were comfortable sharing their lives together.
Ketsaro previously lived with Roman, a retired police officer, for about five years. During that time, Macky—Roman’s close friend—visited Thailand frequently and eventually developed feelings for her. Rather than allowing the situation to cause conflict, the trio reportedly chose to formalize their relationship through a joint marriage ceremony.
The bride, who was previously married to a Thai man, has three children from her earlier marriage and is also a grandmother. Both grooms pledged to support her and her family moving forward, a commitment that played a key role in gaining approval from her relatives.
During the ceremony, each man presented a dowry of one million Thai baht—equivalent to roughly KSh 4.1 million—reflecting a customary practice in some cultures where the groom’s family offers gifts or money to the bride’s family as a sign of respect and commitment.
The wedding has sparked widespread online discussion, with many people expressing curiosity about the rare arrangement. Some observers described it as an example of unconventional modern relationships, while others debated how such unions fit within traditional marriage norms.
For many readers in Kenya and across Africa, the story also highlights how marriage customs differ widely around the world. In many Kenyan communities, for instance, dowry negotiations remain an important cultural tradition that symbolizes unity between families.
While the couple says their decision was based on mutual understanding and happiness, the rare wedding continues to draw global attention on social media.
