Asenath Rotich, widow of late marathon star Kelvin Kiptum, has resurfaced on social media, sharing a short video of herself enjoying an outing with friends as she continues to navigate life two years after her husband’s tragic death.
In the clip, Asenath is seen smiling and seated in a restaurant with companions.
The post marked her first clear return to posting after she largely withdrew from social platforms amid public family disputes.
Before stepping back, Asenath often shared videos of her two children and daily life, and many followers praised her care for the children after Kelvin’s death in 2024.
Tension between Asenath and Kiptum’s parents has been public. At the recent second death anniversary, Kelvin’s father spoke about ongoing struggles.
He said the family still faced financial strain, that Kelvin’s gravesite had not been cemented, and that he was having trouble paying school fees for his grandchildren.
He also said he continued to send money to a child he described as linked to his son.
Kiptum’s parents have previously accused Asenath of moving to Nairobi and not visiting the gravesite or allowing the grandchildren to meet their grandparents.
They also said Asenath was the principal recipient of support from Kiptum’s management company, Golazo, and that they felt left out. After disputes surfaced in 2025, Asenath deleted many of her TikTok posts and kept a low profile online for months.
Her recent Instagram story does not answer the deeper family questions.
The short clip shows Asenath taking time with friends, but it does not make clear whether relations with her in‑laws have improved, whether the financial complaints have been addressed, or if the gravesite will be finished.
Still, many people welcomed the sight of her smiling and expressed sympathy for someone grieving a young husband while raising children alone.
Public reactions to her return were mixed. Some followers argued she deserves moments of normal life and companionship while caring for her children and grieving.
