Comedian Jaymoh Decin has set social media abuzz with a hilarious skit parodying veteran journalist Jeff Koinange interviewing ODM leader Oburu Oginga following Edwin Sifuna’s removal from his position. Jaymoh expertly imitated Jeff’s voice, accent, and presentation style, while Professor Aduol convincingly portrayed Oburu, delivering an entertaining exchange that left netizens in stitches.

The skit cleverly satirized the internal tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), poked fun at Oburu’s claim to youth leadership, and even touched on aspects of his personal life.

On Wednesday, February 11, ODM made a major political move by resolving to remove Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the party’s Secretary General. The decision was reached during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Mombasa, following allegations of misconduct against him.

Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo was appointed as the acting Secretary General. The development sparked widespread online debate, with many Kenyans speculating about its implications for the party as the 2027 General Elections approach.

As the political discussions intensified, comedians joined the conversation, using humour to comment on the unfolding events.

Jaymoh Decin quickly released a skit reacting to Sifuna’s ouster, which rapidly went viral. In the parody, he adopted the persona of Jeff Koinange—introducing himself as “Jeff Joynyambe”—and recreated the journalist’s distinctive style. Professor Aduol starred alongside him as Oburu Oginga, accurately capturing his voice, expressions, and mannerisms.

Opening in dramatic fashion reminiscent of JKLive, Jaymoh said, “Oooh my, welcome to JKLive, my name is Jeff Joynyambe… Tonight, youth leader, ooh my, it is getting smoky tonight. Youth leader, tell us about Siafu and Bubu,” indirectly referring to Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino. He even incorporated Jeff’s trademark fire extinguisher for added comic effect.

In response, Aduol—playing Oburu—delivered witty lines hinting at party disagreements, saying, “You know, Jeff, those are my sons, but there is no way we prepare samaki, and if they go to the neighbours’ home, they say that we are eating mboga,” a humorous metaphor for the divisions among party members.

The skit escalated as the duo joked about Oburu referring to himself as a youth leader despite being in his 80s, along with playful remarks about his personal life, including his marriages.

Kenyans quickly reacted online, praising the creativity and spot-on impersonations. Many social media users described Jaymoh as incredibly versatile, while others applauded Aduol’s flawless portrayal of Oburu. Comments ranged from humorous admiration of Jaymoh’s ability to transform into different personalities to playful warnings that his talent was becoming “too much to handle.”

Meanwhile, hours after his removal, Edwin Sifuna addressed the situation on social media. He thanked his supporters for their messages of encouragement and assured the public that he would soon speak to the press to clarify issues surrounding his ouster.
