A report has emerged showing how a couple’s desperate search for their missing teenage daughter led investigators to a foreign national’s residence in Watamu, after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) shared details of the case.
According to the DCI, the incident began on February 1, 2026, when the parents reported their 15-year-old daughter missing. The family tried to trace her whereabouts but their efforts did not succeed.
Investigators say the breakthrough came after members of the public alerted authorities that a foreign man had been seen with a juvenile at a villa in Watamu. Acting on the information, police officers quickly moved to the location to verify the report.
At the residence, officers discovered an 85-year-old Swiss national, identified as Gisler Emil Johann, together with the missing minor. He was immediately arrested on suspicion of defiling the teenager. Police then escorted the girl to Gede Sub-County Hospital for a medical examination and further care.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody as officers continue processing the case ahead of his planned court appearance. Investigations are ongoing as detectives gather evidence related to the incident.
The DCI has emphasized its continued commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the community, especially children. Officials say they are focused on carrying out thorough investigations to ensure anyone responsible for crimes against minors is held accountable under the law.
