Media personality Betty Kyallo’s partner, Charlie Jones, has criticised what he termed as embarrassing behaviour by some adult men during the recent visit by American streaming sensation iShowSpeed to Kenya.
iShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., arrived in Nairobi on Sunday, January 11, 2026, as part of his highly publicised “Speed Does Africa” tour.
The visit attracted massive crowds and global attention, with thousands of fans closely following his livestreams as he toured various parts of the city.
While Charlie acknowledged that younger fans are naturally excited by the 20-year-old streamer’s presence, he said he was taken aback by how some older men conducted themselves.
According to him, scenes of grown men lining up for photographs, aggressively seeking autographs and desperately pleading for the streamer’s attention were difficult to watch.
Charlie described instances where men were seen shouting, jumping up and down and even handing over large sums of money in an attempt to be recognised by iShowSpeed.
He questioned why some adults appeared willing to abandon basic dignity for a brief moment of interaction with the global star.
In his remarks, Charlie also praised the Kenyan government for leveraging the visit to promote the country on a global stage, noting that showcasing Kenya to international audiences was a smart move.
However, he insisted that such opportunities should not come at the cost of self-respect.
He cited incidents where men nearing 30 years of age were reportedly begging the much younger streamer for validation, asking him to profess affection or acknowledge them as his “biggest fan.”
Charlie added that some continued to chase iShowSpeed throughout the day despite being pushed aside or ignored.
“What happened to shame?” Charlie posed, questioning how mature men could subject themselves to such treatment in public.
His comments have sparked debate online, with some agreeing that adults should exercise restraint, while others argue that fandom has no age limit and public figures should expect enthusiastic reactions wherever they go.
