Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has fulfilled his promise to support the family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, who passed away earlier this month.

On Saturday, November 15, Kanze Dena, the spokesperson for Uhuru Kenyatta, visited the late singer’s home. She handed over Ksh 1 million to assist with funeral arrangements. The support was directed to Betty Bayo’s husband, Huram Gitau, her children, and other close family members.

The donation aims not only to cover funeral costs but also to honour Betty Bayo’s contributions to gospel music. Plans also include sponsorship of her children’s education through the Kenyatta Foundation, ensuring her legacy continues to impact lives positively.

Betty Bayo passed away on Monday, November 10, after a brief battle with leukemia. According to her family, her health worsened quickly, leaving little time for public awareness about her condition. She had maintained privacy throughout her illness, choosing to keep her struggle away from the public eye.

The singer rose to fame with her hit song 11th Hour, a track that has remained popular with gospel music fans more than a decade after its release. Her music touched many lives and inspired hope, making her a celebrated figure in the Kenyan gospel scene.
