Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has opened up about visiting the same Ayurvedic Hospital in India where his late brother, Raila Odinga, passed away.

Speaking during an interview with Ramogi TV, Oburu revealed that he had sought treatment at the traditional medicine facility two months before Raila’s death.

He explained that the hospital, known for its Ayurvedic and detox therapies, had become a favorite retreat for Raila, who often went there to rest and rejuvenate.

According to Oburu, the facility also helped Raila’s daughter, Rosemary Odinga, regain her eyesight after other doctors in Kenya, South Africa, and Israel failed to treat her condition.

“I talked to Jakom the night before he died. In the morning, I was informed that he had collapsed while taking a walk,” Oburu said.

He added that Raila was staying at the wellness center after receiving treatment at a main hospital and was scheduled to fly to Dubai two days later.

Oburu described the hospital as a serene place for detoxification and relaxation. “They massage people well, and that’s why Jakom loved going there.

I was there two months ago, and that’s why my body looks refreshed—they even call me youth leader,” he joked.

He further recounted how Raila had walked five times around the compound before he suddenly fell.

Following the tragic news, Oburu immediately traveled to Bondo to inform elders, as required by Luo customs, while Raila’s daughter Winnie remained in India to oversee the arrangements.

The senator’s revelations offered Kenyans a rare glimpse into Raila’s final days and the bond shared by the Oginga family.
