Detectives in Nakuru County have launched investigations into the death of a police officer whose body was discovered under unclear circumstances.
Constable Nelson Gatiari was found hanging from a tree within the Kampi ya Moto police line in Rongai sub-county.
The discovery was made in the morning by colleagues who alerted senior officers and initiated emergency procedures.
According to preliminary reports, the officer was last seen the previous evening and had not reported for duty. His absence raised concern among fellow officers, prompting a search that led to the tragic find.
The scene was processed and the body moved to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Sources at the station said Gatiari had been on duty earlier in the week and showed no signs of distress. His sudden death has left colleagues and the local community in shock.
The incident has raised concerns over the mental health and welfare of officers. Police welfare organizations have urged the government to strengthen counseling and support programs.
