National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has made an emotional appeal to Kenyans to respect the Odinga family during this difficult period following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Speaking with deep concern, Ichung’wah expressed his sympathy for Mama Ida Odinga and her family, who have yet to view the body of their beloved patriarch.

He described the immense pain and emotional turmoil that the Odinga family has endured since Raila’s passing. Ichung’wah noted that the delay in viewing the body has made the grieving process even more difficult for them, urging Kenyans to show compassion and understanding.

The Majority Leader emphasized that Raila Odinga’s contributions to Kenya’s democracy should be honored with dignity and respect. He appealed to all citizens to allow the family the privacy and peace they need to mourn and prepare for the final rites.

Ichung’wah reminded Kenyans that unity and empathy are essential, especially during times of national sorrow. He urged the public to set aside political differences and focus on honoring Raila’s life and legacy in a manner befitting a statesman.

According to Ichung’wah, the nation must rise above division and ensure that the former Prime Minister’s send off reflects the values he stood for, including peace, justice, and national cohesion. He cautioned against actions or remarks that could disrupt the mourning process or cause further distress to the bereaved family.

The plea comes at a time when Kenyans from all walks of life continue to pay tribute to Raila Odinga, a man celebrated for his unwavering fight for democracy and equality. Ichung’wah’s message serves as a reminder that dignity in death is a right owed to every Kenyan, regardless of political affiliation.
