Mercy Wanjiru has shared the disturbing experience of being sexually exploited by her employer while working as a house help. She revealed that he would wait until his wife left for work before attempting to sleep with her.
Mercy explained that her father passed away when she was very young, and after completing class eight, her mother could not afford to send her to secondary school. At sixteen, she started working as a domestic worker. Her first employer, a pastor, seemed kind and religious, but one morning she was suddenly asked to pack her wet clothes from the line and leave.
After returning home, Mercy found another job with a different household, where the husband was also a pastor and the wife worked at a tourist company, often away for days. She claimed her employer repeatedly told her she would not be allowed to leave unless she slept with him.
Mercy recounted an incident when both the husband and wife left for work, and he returned home, asking her to run an errand. As he handed her money, he grabbed her hand and tried to lock her in, but she managed to escape.
When she called the madam to explain, the husband had already lied, accusing her of being caught with a man, which led to her being dismissed. After this ordeal, Mercy vowed never to work as a house girl again and used her savings to open her own hotel.
