Singer Akothee has once again shown she is not the type to keep quiet when people come for her. Over the weekend, she stepped out for a music festival in a long blouse, no trousers, just underwear paired with boots. Photos quickly made rounds online, sparking heated debate over her dressing.
Some Kenyans felt the outfit was too revealing, while others defended her freedom to dress how she wants. But instead of shying away from the criticism, Akothee fired back with her signature no-filter style, telling off both men and women who spend too much time discussing her.
She joked that if a married man can talk about her for more than a minute while his family has bills to pay, then his wife should remind him, “Boss, we have bills.” In her words, such a man probably wants “an Akothee and a woman at home.” She didn’t spare the ladies either, saying if a wife talks about her for more than an hour, her man should ask her to pay all the bills for that month “like Akothee.”
The self-proclaimed Madam Boss also threw in a cheeky punchline, laughing off the whole debate by claiming, “I don’t think we will have perfect families anymore.” For her, the criticism seems less about morality and more about misplaced priorities in people’s homes.
