An aide to Marakwet East MP Bowen Kangogo was kidnapped in broad daylight, prompting protests from both the MP and his family members.
Kangogo expressed his concern that the missing individual, who was employed in his office, was abducted during the empowerment event.
The event was attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
Kangogo is urging the government to locate the aide, while also associating his abduction with the current security operation aimed at combating banditry in the Kerio Valley.
He insisted that security personnel should conduct a thorough investigation into those involved in banditry.
The MP insists that the concerned authorities must ensure that those involved are held accountable, while also protecting innocent individuals from harm.
In response to the MP’s remarks, Kindiki stated that security issues should not be politicized in any manner.
The deputy president emphasized that police officers must also refrain from targeting innocent citizens.
