Brandi Smith, a 44-year-old Florida mother, was allegedly shot and killed by her 14-year-old son, Trevor Lee, alongside her husband, David Lee, in a shocking incident that has left the community in disbelief.
What makes the tragedy even more heartbreaking is an old Facebook post from 2019 in which Brandi described her son as giving her “pure hell” and being her “karma times 10.”
The incident happened in the early hours of August 4, 2025, in Middleburg, Florida. According to authorities, Trevor got into an argument with his parents before shooting them with their own gun.
After the shooting, he walked to a nearby church, called 911, and confessed, saying he would wait.
Friends and family say they are stunned because Trevor was known as a “good kid” and a “straight-A student” who came from a loving family.
Brandi’s old Facebook post has since gone viral, with many people reflecting on the complexities of parenting and teenage behavior.
Some commenters suggested that words have power and that parents should speak positivity into their children’s lives, while others argued that no amount of discipline or love can predict such extreme actions.
Trevor’s best friend, Kyree Bamon, described the family as “one of the best” he knew and said Trevor was a funny, kind person who made a terrible mistake.
As the investigation continues, many are left wondering if there were warning signs that went unnoticed—or if this was simply a tragic, inexplicable act of violence.
