Officers from Lunga Lunga Police Station On August 2, carried out successful operation following a tip-off about the presence of a suspected criminal gang operating in Ngeneni area of Lunga Lunga Township.Among those targeted was a man with an outstanding arrest warrant for murder, reportedly seen in the area alongside known associates.
Police swiftly moved into action, storming a single-room house where the suspects were found.
Inside, officers discovered several individuals armed with machetes and engaging in the smoking of cannabis sativa.
A detailed search of the premises uncovered five machetes, roughly 257 grams of cannabis sativa, and a black motorcycle with Tanzanian registration number MC890, believed to have been used in prior criminal activity.
All suspects were apprehended on the spot and are currently in custody as investigations continue.
They are expected to face charges in court in the coming days.The National Police Service acknowledged and appreciated the community for their cooperation and timely information,which played key role in disrupting the gang’s operations and restoring safety in area.
