Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has rejected calls for his prosecution at the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the deaths during the recent Gen-Z protests.
In his defence, Murkomen asserted that those advocating for this action are overlooking the violence perpetrated by the protesters.
While speaking at a Jukwaa la Usalama forum on August 1, 2025, Murkomen accused his critics of exhibiting selective outrage.
The CS claimed that his critics have ignored the damage inflicted during the demonstrations.
He alleged that certain unnamed groups are attempting to coerce the government through threats of ICC intervention.
He emphasized that the officers who were deployed to manage protesters has a duty to maintain constitutional order.
Murkomen, faced significant public backlash due to his contentious directive to officers concerning the management of violent protesters.
However, he defended the actions of the security forces, asserting that the security measures implemented during the unrest were aimed at safeguarding the nation.
