Drama has unfolded at the prestigious Alliance Girls High School after a recent exposé uncovered disturbing claims about a male teacher who was allegedly involved in inappropriate relationships with students.
The story, which has left many Kenyans in shock, has triggered a wave of emotions — especially from the school’s alumni, who have wasted no time in demanding justice.
Over the weekend, a group of bold and angry former students staged a peaceful protest outside the school gates in Kiambu County, carrying placards and chanting slogans like “Protect our girls” and “Justice for the voiceless”. For many of them, this issue cuts deep.
“It’s painful to hear that such things were happening right under our noses,” said one emotional alumnus, tears in her eyes. “We trusted our teachers. We looked up to them. This betrayal is too much.”
Some old girls travelled from as far as Mombasa and Eldoret just to show solidarity. Others shared stories online, revealing how they had once brushed off uncomfortable encounters as harmless — only to now realise they were not alone.
Parents, too, are shaken. A concerned mum who was dropping her daughter off said, “We work so hard to take our girls to top schools like Alliance, thinking they’ll be safe. This is heartbreaking.”
The school board has promised a full investigation, and the Ministry of Education has also stepped in to ensure proper action is taken.
But beyond the headlines, what’s clear is this — Kenyan parents, students, and alumni are tired of staying silent. And if this protest is anything to go by, the days of sweeping such issues under the carpet are over. Our girls deserve better. It’s time for change.
