A group of Kisumu youths allegedly to be pro-government supporters marched along Jomo Kenyatta Highway with banners opposing Saba Saba protests.

The banner were written “NO Maandamano” with symbols advocating for President William Ruto’s second term.

The “tutam” symbols have been popular during DP Kithure Kindiki’s empowerment rallies across the country.

The youth are calling for peace, emphasizing that the Saba Saba commemoration is not a call for protests and urging residents to stay calm.

They declared their support to the broad based government.

This comes after ODM boss Raila Odinga warned youths against storming streets and instead gather at Kamkunji Ground for Saba Saba memorial.

During the June 25 protests, Kisumu youths gave the protests a wide berth with Governor Anyang Nyong’o acknowledging his people for maintaining peace.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gilbert Masengeli has refuted reports that Kenyans are being blocked from accessing Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), saying movement into the city remains unrestricted.

Despite the assurance, Nairobi motorists faced major disruptions on Monday morning as police erected multiple roadblocks on key routes in and out of the city.

The roadblocks affected both private vehicles and public service vehicles (PSVs), leaving many commuters stranded.
