Kenyans have taken to social media to shower praise on High Court Judge Chacha Mwita following his bold remarks in the case of missing Kenyan, Ndiang’ui Kinyagia.
In a stern address to Inspector General Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Amin Mohamed, Justice Mwita dismissed excuses and theatrics, stating, “I am not interested in your drama. Produce Ndiang’ui Kinyagia, whether dead or alive.”
Kinyagia went missing on the 21st of last month under mysterious circumstances.
Kinyagia was to be presented to court today, but the police failed to do so, on the grounds that the had no information of where the blogger was.
Since then, police have maintained that they are unaware of his whereabouts and have denied involvement in any alleged abduction.
The judge’s strong words appear to reflect the public’s growing frustration with what many perceive as increasing cases of enforced disappearances and lack of police accountability.
Online, Justice Mwita has been hailed as a hero for speaking truth to power.
The public reaction underscores widespread concern about human rights and justice in Kenya.
Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans;
As citizens await further action from the police, Justice Mwita’s call for transparency and accountability continues to ignite conversations nationwide, with many hoping his courage sets a precedent for others in the judiciary.
The pressure is now squarely on the security agencies to respond not with words, but with action.
