The National Police Service is in mourning following the sudden and tragic death of two officers attached to the Ainamoi Police Station in Kericho County.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on Thursday, 26th June 2025, while the two officers were reportedly attempting to erect a radio signal mast within the station’s compound. According to preliminary reports, the duo was electrocuted during the exercise bringing operations at the station to a standstill as colleagues and residents tried to come to terms with the shocking loss.
At the time of publishing, the identities of the fallen officers had not yet been released to the public, as authorities sought to notify their next of kin. Their bodies have since been moved to a local mortuary, where a postmortem is expected to be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
News of the incident sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with Kenyans expressing their condolences and solidarity with the families of the deceased.
The National Police Service has yet to issue an official statement, but sources close to the matter say internal investigations have been launched into the incident.
