Fresh revelations have rocked the investigation into the death of blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang’, with Police Constable James Mukhwana making a chilling confession that could implicate top police leadership.

In a dramatic turn of events, Mukhwana has confessed to coordinating the brutal assault on Ojwang while in custody at Central Police Station.According to investigative sources, Mukhwana confessed to receiving direct orders from Central OCS Samson Talaam, who allegedly acted under instructions from Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat.

Acting on those commands, Mukhwana recruited inmates, paid them KSh 2,000, and directed them to attack Ojwang inside his cell.

He claims that after the beating turned severe, he moved Ojwang to a different cell, where the teacher collapsed, visibly bleeding and unable to walk.

These revelations, supported by internal sources, indicate a wider conspiracy involving senior officers and deliberate cover-ups.

Mukhwana’s statement also suggests that he remained on duty beyond his scheduled hours, reportedly under instructions to handle a “special guest” later confirmed to be Ojwang.Investigators are now questioning why standard procedures were ignored and why crucial evidence, including OB records, appears to be missing.

Meanwhile, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) have recorded statements from more than 20 individuals in connection to the case.

Yet, the original complainant, DIG Lagat, is yet to be interrogated, raising concerns about selective accountability.

Public outrage continues to grow as this case exposes deep cracks in the police service, pointing to systemic abuse of power, manipulation of junior officers, and a disturbing culture of impunity.
