Former Vice President Moody Awori made a rare public appearance when he hosted an end of the year party in his home in Funyula constituency, Busia County.
The former second in command often holds the annual event as a way to give back to the society.
During these functions, the country’s ninth Vice President normally donates school uniforms and other learning materials to children from less privileged backgrounds.
The 98- year former VP served as Funyula MP for 24 years having been elected to Parliament in 1983. He would never relinquish the seat until 2007 when he was defeated by Dr Paul Otuoma.
He served as Vice President under President Mwai Kibaki for four years having been appointed to succeed the late Wamalwa Kijana in 2003.
Since retiring from politics, the veteran politician has kept off the limelight, often appearing in public under rare occasions.
