Unlike before when military work in Kenya was dominated by men, today, more women are opening up to military work.
Although military work is well paying, there are a few things women should be aware of before considering to join military service.
The following are the three things that female military officials are not allowed to do:
1. No marriage while pursuing military career
Female officials are required to serve a temporary term, usually close to three years, before they are allowed to be married. After the three years, they can go ahead and marry.
2. No open display of love for coworkers
In military work, it is wrong for female officers to display romance or kiss their male coworker openly. This is because such an act demonstrates their readiness to cooperate, which is not allowed.
3. No long hair, tattoos and earings
The military holds a low opinion of female officers with long hair. Always maintaining a professional, well-groomed look is expected of them, including their hair
While in military uniform, female officers cannot have a tattoo. Additionally, when dressed in their power formal attire, female officers are prohibited from donning studs.
