Digital content creator Andrew Duncan Oduor, popularly known as 2Mbili, has explained why he delayed releasing an interview with late rapper Stoopid Boy, revealing that troubling remarks made by the artiste about his mental state prompted him to keep the recording private.
2Mbili said the interview was recorded about two months before Stoopid Boy’s death but was never published despite the rapper repeatedly asking for it to be released.
The decision has now attracted renewed attention after 2Mbili released the recording following news of the artiste’s death on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
According to the interview, Stoopid Boy spoke about a difficult period in his life, including the loss of his brother and being left by his girlfriend.
During the conversation, he reportedly made remarks suggesting that he could take his own life, highlighting the depth of the emotional struggles he was experiencing at the time.
The revelations have painted a picture of an artiste who was battling prolonged emotional distress rather than facing a single isolated crisis.
2Mbili said those remarks were among the reasons he was uncomfortable putting the interview into the public domain. He chose to hold it back, even as Stoopid Boy continued asking him to release the episode.
“2 Months Ago We Did A Podcast With Stoopid!! I Never Released It Coz Of The Things He Said In The Pod!” 2Mbili said.
According to the content creator, the rapper made another request on Tuesday, just days before his death, but he still had no intention of publishing the interview.
“This week on Tuesday he asked again & I wasn’t planning to release it!” he added.
Everything changed after 2Mbili received news of Stoopid Boy’s death.
The content creator said the news left him deeply affected and ultimately pushed him to release the recording, which he believes could be the final interview given by the rapper.
“But my heart is weak over getting news of his demise!! I Have Had No Option But To Release What I Think Is The Last Interview He Did!!” he stated.
2Mbili also disclosed that attempts had been made by people around Stoopid Boy to help him change his circumstances, although he admitted that those efforts did not succeed.
“We always did our best to try to change him, but we failed!! May God keep His spirit at peace!!” he said.
The interview has since added weight to growing discussions over the rapper’s struggles, with Kenyans questioning whether earlier intervention and sustained support could have changed his situation.
It has also raised broader concerns about the pressures facing young artistes, bereavement, relationship breakdowns, depression and the lack of effective support structures for entertainers experiencing personal crises.
While the interview provides insight into Stoopid Boy’s state of mind, the remarks made during the recording should not be taken on their own as proof of the circumstances or cause of his death.
Stoopid Boy, whose real name was reported as Edger, rose to prominence through his hit Gbag Na Jug.
His sudden death has continued to generate tributes while prompting difficult questions about the support available to young creatives when they are struggling away from the spotlight.
