Prison Nakuru

Some hours ago popular Inooro TV journalist Simon Kibe has aired the story of Liz Njeri, a 17-year-old girl currently held at Lang’ata Women’s Prison after being convicted of murder.

According to Njeri, the incident occurred on an unspecified date in April 2025. On that day, she attended church together with her siblings as it was their routine. There were special presentations scheduled in church that day and so they prepared earlier than usual. Their mother, however, did not attend the service.

After the presentations, normal church activities resumed and Njeri says she went to look for her younger siblings so they could proceed to Sunday school.

She found her siblings playing with their neighbor’s child within the church compound. Njeri alleged that there had been ongoing tension between her mother and the neighbor whom she described as rude. Driven by a desire for revenge, she instructed her siblings to return inside the church and asked the neighbor’s child to remain behind. The child complied.

Njeri stated that the young girl was wearing a scarf which she asked her to remove. She then used the scarf to strangle the child leaving her unconscious at the scene. Church members later found the child and rushed her to the hospital but she sadly died on the way.

Police launched investigations immediately and Njeri was identified as the main suspect. She was arrested and taken to a police station for questioning. During the process, she underwent an age assessment which concluded that she was 18 years old despite her claim that she was 17.

The following day, Njeri was arraigned in court and charged with murder. She pleaded guilty to the offense. The court subsequently sentenced her to 15 years in prison despite her being a student in form 4.
