A 16-storey building has collapsed in South C, Nairobi, causing fear and panic among residents and road users in the area.

The building, which was still under construction, came down suddenly, sending a huge cloud of dust into the air and blocking nearby roads.

Authorities confirmed the incident and said the building collapsed while construction work was ongoing. The exact cause of the collapse had not been established by the time of reporting.

Emergency teams, including police, firefighters, medical personnel, and other rescue workers, are currently at the scene to assist in search and rescue operations.

Rescuers are working carefully through the debris, using equipment and manpower to look for anyone who might have been trapped inside the building at the time of the collapse.

It is still unclear how many workers were at the site and whether there are casualties. Ambulances have been placed on standby as the rescue mission continued.

This tragedy adds to a growing list of building collapses in Kenya. Officials have repeatedly warned property developers against ignoring safety standards set by the National Construction Authority (NCA) and county governments. Despite these warnings, cases of unsafe construction have continued, leading to devastating consequences.
