Twelve Wagisu people from Uganda have admitted to kidnapping, killing, and eating at least eight pupils in West Pokot County, Kenya. Following a public raid on their Kapenguria village, the suspects were taken into custody and confessed to killing the children, roasting or boiling their flesh, and then eating it.

The fact that hundreds of children’s clothing items, including as shoes, school uniforms, and exercise books, were found in the suspects’ homes suggests that the victims were school-age children who had been kidnapped on their way to or from school. Research and Response from the Community:
West Pokot villagers were incensed by the disclosures and demanded prompt justice. The Kapenguria-Lodwar route was stopped by hundreds of locals who demanded that the accused be turned over for mob justice. The demonstrations descended into violence, with irate mobs burning the suspects’ houses and throwing stones at the police.
In an effort to find hard proof, authorities intend to dig up a toilet that is thought to have been used to dispose of bones and body parts. A primary suspect escaped to Uganda, and police are working with Ugandan officials to apprehend him.
