South Africa-based Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan has once again set tongues wagging after a video surfaced showing her discussing plans to add a second husband. In a conversation with her younger husband, Shakib Cam Lutaaya, Zari mentioned that South African law allows women to marry more than one man. “I’ll get married to another guy. In South Africa, we are allowed to have two husbands. It’s a new law passed in Parliament,” Zari confidently told Shakib, who responded with a calm, “I know you,” while staring at her.

The couple’s relationship has been marred by controversy and public drama. Zari, who is over a decade older than Shakib, has previously accused him of failing to contribute financially to their household. Shakib, in turn, has dismissed Zari as controlling and incapable of bearing more children due to her age.

Social media users quickly weighed in, with many comparing Zari’s boldness to her ex, Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz. Some applauded her independence, while others criticized her for publicly undermining her husband.

Zari’s comments on polygamy reference a 2021 South African legal proposal that would allow women to have multiple husbands. However, it remains unclear if the law has been fully enacted. Regardless, Zari’s remarks have reignited debates on gender roles, marriage, and financial dynamics in relationships.
