The Kenya Kwanza government and head of state President William Ruto’s top gun have been found in an expected situation after the power outage at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport yesterday.
After a mysterious power outage Friday night closed down the nation’s main international airport and resulted in a rare instance of a government minister making a public apology, a large portion of Kenya awakened on Saturday morning to find it still without energy. Major hospitals and even the compound housing the president’s office were impacted.
Kenyans have called for Kipchumba Murkomen’s immediate resignation after what happened at the JKIA.
Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen said, “I am really sorry for what has happened at JKIA with the blackout. There is no excuse worth reporting, and there is no reason why our airport is in darkness. I will be announcing the decision we will make tomorrow at 9 a.m. at JKIA after a meeting with the leadership of the airport. Once again, I am sorry.”
Just a few weeks before Kenya’s government holds the inaugural Africa Climate Summit, where energy will be a major topic of discussion, there was a recent outage that affected a large portion of the nation. Nearly all of Kenya’s electricity comes from renewable sources, but the more than 50 million-person nation’s infrastructure and alleged mismanagement continue to be problems.
