Veteran Catholic priest Father Gabriel Dolan has vehemently opposed the proposed Finance Bill 2023 which is being pushed by President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza government.

Father Dolan, who is also an activist and columnist for the Standard, accused Ruto of showing dictatorial tendencies by telling citizens that the proposed taxes will be passed whether they like it or not.

In a tweet on Tuesday, he said even if the President will manage to bribe all MPs to vote for the Bill in the national assembly, he will not manipulate Kenyans to accept it.

The Director of Haki Yetu Organization warned Ruto that if he is not careful the Finance Bill will lead to his destruction.

” #RejectFinanceBill2023 The threats and increasing authoritarian utterances of Mr.Ruto with “tupende tusipende” on the bill must be challenged in every forum. He may buy 359 MPs but he cannot bulldoze 56m citizens. It will lead to his downfall,” Father Dolan posted.

Ruto has continued rooting for the passage of the controversial legislation amid growing opposition saying nothing will be amended including the housing levy.

“I am not mad and I do not drink. I know what I am doing and I have planned my work well, I promised hustlers that my first would be to uplift those in the low-class level, we do bottom up,” the Head of State said during a function in Busia.
