ODM supporter Nuru Maliba Okanga has finally been charged in Kiambu Court. Okanga was arrested yesterday morning by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation at his residence in Nairobi City.
According to information shared by a renowned lawyer and activist, Boniface Mwangi, on his X account and Facebook page, Okanga had this morning been charged with uttering abusive and insulting words towards the head of state, Hon. William Ruto. Mwangi claims that although the words were not from the head of state, Okanga has a right to share his opinion and hence regarded the court verdict as a waste of time.
In the verdict notice shared by Mwangi, the ODM diehard was accused on two accounts. The first account entails providing wrong information about his KCPE results, which is contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act No. 5 of 2018.
The second account of his arrest entails insulting words that were uttered on November 20, 2023, where he abused the Head of State, saying, “Ruto, you are an idiot, stupid!
