Controversial pastor James Ng’ang’a has criticized Kenyan TikTok users, calling them cursed and accusing them of chaotic behavior on the platform. Ng’ang’a, from Neno Evangelism Centre, expressed concern over the lack of proper guidance for young people using TikTok, claiming it leads to negative outcomes.

He referenced the recent tragic death of Brian Chira, a popular TikToker, suggesting it was not a natural occurrence. Ng’ang’a asserted that God does not take away young lives and insinuated that Chira’s death was a result of the devil’s influence.

“Hii TikTok imeharibu. You talk too much. Like crazy people. You are the cursed generation. Look how you are dying, look how you are drowning in the water,” he argued.

“And you are all going to attend the funeral of one of your own. Do you think God took him away? God doesn’t take young people. Where do you think God would take such a young child? To be with Moses, Aaron or Elijah in heaven? That’s the devil destroying you.” he said.

Ng’ang’a condemned TikTokers for turning Chira’s funeral into chaos and content creation instead of allowing his family to mourn respectfully. Chira, known for his viral TikTok videos, died in a hit-and-run accident, sparking a massive turnout at his funeral.

The funeral, held at Githunguri, Kiambu County, drew thousands of mourners, including elected leaders like Githunguri MP Wamuchomba and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya. MP Salasya praised Chira as an inspiration to the youth and expressed disbelief at the massive turnout, emphasizing Chira’s influence over traditional politicians.

“No politician can pull the numbers we are seeing today,” he added.

Salasya also offered financial support of Ksh40,000 to the bereaved family.
