YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, more popularly known as Mr Beast, has hired Alex Spiro, a celebrity lawyer who has represented powerful personalities like Elon Musk, Mick Jagger, Jay Z and Alec Baldwin, to defend himself from allegations that have branded him as a “sociopath”, according to a report by The Daily Mail. According to the report, Alex Spiro is a $2k-an-hour attorney and a partner at the law firm ‘Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan’.
Mr Beast reportedly wants Alex Spiro to conduct an internal audit of his company, since it’s been embroiled in a bunch of scandals. The high-powered attorney will also try to fend off the claims of Dawson French, an ex-employee of Mr Beast, who has called Mr Beast a “sociopath” and a ‘fraud” in the videos of DogPack404, his YouTube channel, which has over 6 lakh subscribers.
As per the report, Mr Beast’s attorney has already begun defensive and counter-attacking manoeuvres by sending Dawson French a cease-and-desist letter in which he claims that French was an employee of Mr Beast for only “three weeks” before he was fired for conduct even French characterized as “inappropriate.”
Spiro’s cease-and-desist letter also reportedly accuses Dawson French of spreading “false and defamatory allegations”. It further adds that by disparaging Mr Beast’s company, he has breached a non-disclosure agreement he’d signed that forbade him from doing it.
In one of his channel’s videos titled “I Worked for MrBeast, He’s a Sociopath”, Dawson French accused Mr Beast of fostering a toxic work culture. In his other, more recent video called “I Worked For MrBeast, He’s A Fraud”, Dawson talks about the case of Ava Kris Tyson, a long-time friend of Mr Beast (and also his host on the show) for being accused of having sexually explicit chats with a minor. As of July 2024, the video had 14,758,608 views.
