Popularity is something that so many yearn for. However, passion is key to knowing which areas to pursue. Shii Kabaya takes us through her life’s journey.

Shii was born and raised in Muranga County. She did well in school and later went to college in Thika where she did catering. While still in college, she was going for auditions in the National Theatre as she felt the urge to act. She tried severally and did some shoots which gave some earnings. By then she was also applying for jobs in different hotels.

Getting waitress jobs made her uninterested in what she loved cooking. Since young she always dreamt of being on TV and becoming popular. One time, she got a job opportunity in Inooro Tv and lucky enough got the job in a show named Wirekererie. It wasn’t easy even with dressing as she wore an old t-shirt and rubber shoes for the interview but she did her best to earn that post. At last her wish was coming to reality.

The earning was great so life was getting the better part of her. Her husband was very supportive making life even sweeter. It reached a point where she decided to resign and start her business. She quit Inooro and started hustling but it was unfortunate that it didn’t work. At one point, she went back home and fell into depression due to people’s sarcasm about leaving her indoor job.

She went through a very hard time and she decided to bear a child seeking comfort. Just when she was about to give birth, several job opportunities rose to work in media.3 months after delivery, she started working at Gichichio Tv and she is still on the job. Her self-esteem is slowly coming back after all the stigmatisation she went through. She says her self-esteem has been boosted by her daughter’s presence knowing she is looking up to her.

For Shii, it has taken God’s hand to be in the limelight and to recover from depression after losing her fame. In conclusion, she urges people to be determined to rise, dust themselves and move on even after falling. She is hoping for the best and trusts that her future is still bright.
