The family eventually settled in Nairobi, where they attempted to rebuild their lives. The husband worked as a motorcycle taxi rider while the woman took up casual laundry work to supplement the family’s income. However, tensions soon resurfaced within the household, particularly around the couple’s eldest daughter. The mother claimed that any attempt to discipline the girl was met with resistance from the husband, who consistently took the child’s side, further straining the marriage.
The situation reached a breaking point when the woman says she unexpectedly walked in on her husband and daughter in a compromising situation. Shocked and devastated, she reported the matter to the landlord, hoping for intervention. Instead, she alleges the man declared that he wished to remain with the girl rather than his wife, a revelation that shattered the family completely.
