Following the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by the MPs, attention is now on who President William Ruto will nominate as his new Deputy, if the Senate upholds the MPs’ decision.

Reacting to this political development, Ruto’s staunch ally Cosmo Choy voiced his opinion on the matter. In a video shared on his official Facebook page, Cosmo Choy made it clear that he believes Interior Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki is the best person for the Deputy President position should Gachagua remain impeached.

According to Cosmo Choy, appointing Kindiki is not only crucial for Ruto’s government now but will also secure the President’s political future in the 2027 elections.

He stated that Kindiki, who comes from the Mount Kenya East region, would bring significant political support from communities in that area, such as the Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi. He warned that if Ruto fails to choose Kindiki, it could spell the end of his political career.

“Without Kindiki, No Ruto,” Cosmo emphasized.

He added that voters from these regions currently support Ruto fully, but if Kindiki is not picked, they might abandon Ruto in the next election. Choy explained that if Kindiki is not nominated, these regions could align with other groups, including the Kikuyu and Akamba, to form a strong political coalition that could take the presidency in 2027.

“The Aembu, Meru, and Tharaka will join hands with the Kikuyu and Akamba, and they will take the Presidency very early, but if you have Kindiki, people from Central would have been contained.” Cosmo Choy said.

He also argued that the Deputy President’s seat was originally meant for Kindiki, but Gachagua had been sitting in it.

“The seat belonged to Kindiki and it is not something to discuss,” Cosmo said.
