According to the latest Daily Nation report, the Mt Kenya region would not field a presidential candidate in the next 2027 general elections. This is according to Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu. According to the two leaders, the Kikuyu community has resolved to support Kalonzo Musyoka for the coveted job because he has fought for them during Kibaki’s tenure.
Kioni stated that the Gikuyu, Meru, and Embu communities have been holding grassroots meetings with the Kamba community to devise a strategy for supporting Kalonzo Musyoka in 2027. According to Kioni, their primary goal is to topple President William Ruto, particularly following the disagreement with his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua. Kioni also stated that they have rejected any ties with Raila Odinga after he supported Ruto’s government for personal gain.
“They said Central Kenya leaders will team up with other regions to ensure Dr Ruto becomes a one term President.” The nation reported.
