Friday, October 11, the local newspapers continued coverage on the impeachment of the second in command, Rigathi Gachagua, who will be appearing before Senate next week Tuesday where his fate will be decided.

One of the newspapers highlighted how President William Ruto turned down any talks of him reconciling with his DP, Rigathi Gachagua.

Daily Nation
The news agency reported on President William Ruto’s alleged unconcerned harmonizing with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Daily Nation reported that a number of high ranking religious leaders successfully sought a meeting with the president before Gachagua’s impeachment was prosecuted in the National Assembly.

According to the dailynation, Nyeri Catholic Archdiocese archbishop Anthony Muheria and Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit led the attempts toward the two leaders’ reconciliation.

According to the daily, the President cited Gachagua’s conduct as the main reason for their fallout. William Ruto accused his deputy of allegedly being harsh against lawmakers opposed to him, and publicly opposing government policies.

Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga also joined in attempts to reconcile the two. He also confirmed that the president met the religious leaders on Sunday, October 13, with the Governor saying the Kenya Kwanza MPs he intended to meet to help him broker a truce between Ruto and Gachagua were not committed to it.

“I can confirm that some bishops and even myself made attempts to reconcile the two. I am aware bishops met the president at State House,” Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga stated.

Mutahi Kahiga said that he arranged a meeting with the MPs who failed to honour the meeting. “They kept me waiting at a hotel in Nairobi and never showed up,” Kahiga said.

Meanwhile, a number of lawmakers allied to the president are opposed to any plans for reconciliation between the two leaders.
