Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has expressed his gratitude after being nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Digital Economy by President William Ruto. The announcement comes as a surprise, given Kabogo’s reputation as a vocal critic of President Ruto’s leadership style.
In his acceptance statement, Kabogo thanked President Ruto and the people of Kenya for entrusting him with the significant responsibility. “Grateful to President H.E. Dr. William Ruto for the trust and honor of nominating me as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication & Digital Economy. Thank you, Mr. President, and the people of Kenya, for this opportunity,” he said.
Kabogo’s nomination is seen as a strategic move by the President to bring critics into his fold, symbolizing inclusivity and reconciliation within the Kenya Kwanza administration. Kabogo now joins the list of Kenya Kwanza critics who have been integrated into the government. His nomination is expected to strengthen the government’s approach to fostering collaboration and improving the country’s digital economy.
