After spending the last two years in the cold, former Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney has made a remarkable comeback into the public service after her latest appointment by President William Ruto.
In the changes, Dr Ruto picked the former CS as the board chairperson of the National Lottery.
Karoney served as CS under former President Uhuru Kenyatta for five years having been appointed in 2018.
In 2022, she was replaced from the position by Zachary Njeru, who became the first holder of the post in the Ruto regime.
A journalist by profession, Karoney worked for nearly all top media houses in the country, rising from junior position to that of managing Editor.
Prior to her appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018, she served as chief operating officer at the Royal Media Services.
She is credited for building the media careers of many big- name journalists in the country today during his remarkable media career spanning over two decades.
Karoney had previously worked for KTN, NTV and the national broadcaster, KBC.
With President Ruto faced with a daunting task of appointing the next interior Cabinet Secretary following the appointment of Prof Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President.
