Calls for the impeachment of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga have erupted on social media, just hours after Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza was impeached on Wednesday, August 21.

The outrage stems from allegations that Wanga ordered the demolition of a nearly completed KSh100 million Arujo Animal Feeds factory to pave the way for a county office block.

The move sparked widespread criticism from netizens, with many questioning the rationale behind such a decision.

According to the Daily Nation, the factory was only a roof away from completion when the wrecking ball hit. The destruction of the facility, which many hoped would boost local employment and economy, has been met with anger and disbelief.

Social media users, especially those on X, have taken up the mantle, calling for immediate action against Wanga.

“A motion to impeach Gladys Wanga is all the people of Homa Bay need. Make it make sense why the Homa Bay county leadership has demolished a factory costing millions of Shillings to pave way for the building of the Governor’s office?” one netizen reacted as she called for Wanga to be ousted.

Another netizen echoed the same, declaring, “Now this deserves impeachment. The MCAs have no skin, the Senate would save her for the sake of broad-based corruption government.”

“Next in line for impeachment should be this Gladys Wanga,” another netizen added.

The outcry saw many other netizens join the chorus, with many insisting that Wanga must be held accountable for what they see as a blatant misuse of power.
