Wiper Party leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly criticized President William Ruto’s Jamhuri Day speech. He has accused the head of state of misleading the people of Kenya. The influential politician has stated that President Ruto focused more on praising his Kenya Kwanza administration’s achievements instead of addressing the real issues Kenyans are struggling with.

Kalonzo claimed the speech ignored the values and vision of Kenya’s independence heroes. He described the President’s remarks as full of “pipe dreams” that do not align with the current challenges facing the country. Kalonzo argued that Jamhuri Day should be a time for unity and reflection on Kenya’s progress since independence and is not a platform for self-promotion.

He also accused Ruto’s government of giving rewards to individuals based on loyalty rather than merit. During his speech, President Ruto highlighted several state initiatives such as the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, food security programs, and Taifa Care. He also cautioned against the spread of fake news and called for criticism based on facts.

However, Kalonzo dismissed these points, saying they did not resonate with the hardships most Kenyans face daily and were misleading Kenyans. This is not the first time Kalonzo has called out the President. In the past, he criticized Ruto’s handling of livestock vaccination plans which he claimed could harm pastoral communities.

As the debate around the Jamhuri Day address continues, Kalonzo has urged the government to focus on delivering practical solutions for ordinary Kenyans instead of promoting what he termed “empty promises.”

The remarks and his question, “Why are you misleading Kenyans,” have sparked mixed reactions, with some Kenyans supporting Kalonzo’s stance while others see it as political rivalry.
