Mukami Kimathi was a courageous and fearless fighter who played a key role in the struggle for Kenya’s independence alongside her husband Dedan Kimathi. The freedom fighter died recently and she was buried at her home in Nyandarua County on Saturday, May 12, 2023. The burial ceremony of the former Mau Mau veteran Kimathi was a somber and emotional event attended by many people from various parts of the country.
In today’s burial ceremony, it was totally different because it was attended by Azimio la Umoja leaders including Raila Odinga and the country’s Deputy President William Ruto who paid their respects to the late Mukami Kimathi. However, what should have been a serious moment was tainted by the improper behavior of several of the participants.
During the ceremony, some attendees began trolling and making political statements instead of focusing on the life and legacy of the late Mukami Kimathi. During his speech, Raila Odinga said that he knows Ruto well. In return, Ruto claimed that he he know Raila very well and that’s why he beat him while he was with Uhuru.
After Kenyans.co.ke shared the news on the social media platform Facebook, Kenyans were unhappy with Ruto’s statement with some saying Ruto is always a victim. He needs some confidence coaching. When will he stop mentioning Uhuru? They believe that Ruto should stop mentioning Uhuru because he retired and focus on issues affecting the country. Below are the screenshots of the Kenyans reactions.
