President William Ruto on Wednesday made a tour to Kakamega county to commission some development projects and he was warmly welcomed by the local leaders. Despite the political differences with some of the leaders the president experienced a good treatment a sign that our politics was growing.

One of the leaders that welcomed the president was MP Peter Salasya. According to a video that was shared on the internet, Salasya and other leaders lined up to shake the president’s hand immediately he landed. However, when he was shaking Salasya’s hand people were left talking as the president made a joke with the MP.

Ruto asked the MP about his long hair and asked when he plans to comb it. Salasya laughed at the president’s remarks and said he was ready to comb anytime the president asks him to.

“Na hii nywele refuu hii, tutachanua nywele?” Ruto asked while pointing to Salasya’s head. “Ukisema tutachanua.” Salasya said leaving the people around them laughing. At this time the MP was smiling at the camera man signalling him to capture that moment in detail.

Salasya’s shaggy hair has become his signature and people have told him not to shave it. A few people have however been telling him to trim it as it does not represent a member of parliament. Salasya is known to be a big critic of the president but on Wednesday he was a different person.
