Two pastors have been arrested after being linked to Shakahola mass deaths. Pastor Ezekiel was arrested after the authorities established links between him and controversial pastor Mackenzie.
The autopsies performed on seven of the nine children whose bodies were discovered in the Shakahola forest revealed that they all died of starvation. Chief Government pathologist Johansen Oduor told the press that the other two children had died from oxygen deprivation.
Pathologists were unable to ascertain the cause of death for an adult whose body was examined during the autopsies performed on Monday, as reported by Oduor.
No victims had been rescued from the Shakahola forest by the end of Monday’s search operation, and the inquiry into the cult that killed at least 109 people continued into the new week. The government was forced to stop the exhumation because of heavy rainfall in the area, making the process difficult.
Good News International Church pastor Paul Mackenzie Nthenge allegedly told congregants to starve themselves to “meet Jesus.”
