Following the declaration by the head of the ODM Party, Raila Odinga, of the start of nationwide protests, reports have emerged detailing what Kisumu County began doing soon after the statement.

In a statement distributed via People Daily on Twitter, Kisumu ODM Party leaders have vowed to shut down all entry points into the county in an effort to promote an economic revolution.

The leaders, Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and County Speaker Elisha Oraro, have announced the start of today’s peaceful demonstrations. They urged locals to join the demonstrations in support of the economic revolution.

“Tomorrow, we will close all entry points and border crossings into the city.” Kisumu will not conduct business as usual. “We will permit Kenyans to participate in protests to reduce the exorbitant cost of living,” said Owili.

The leaders spoke shortly after Mr. Odinga announced the start of nationwide rallies to press for economic and political reforms.
